Silver Jewellery

What is Sterling Silver?
Sterling silver is a metal containing at least 92.5% silver. This is the legal standard of purity set by the assay offices in Britain and used for most silver jewellery throughout the world. It means that the metal used is of a specific quality. Pure silver is never used, as it is too soft to be practical.

Although it is a metal, sterling silver is still soft enough to mark when in contact with harder objects. It will also tarnish with wear. To keep your jewellery in the best condition we recommend the following care:
  • Silver does tarnish. Always polish your jewellery using a high quality silver cloth and not a silver dip.
  • Never spray perfume or cosmetics on or near your jewellery.
  • Store all your jewellery separately to prevent accidental damage.
  • Matt jewellery can be cleaned using an eraser.

Costume Jewellery

  • Never spray perfume or cosmetics on or near your jewellery.
  • Store all your jewellery separately to prevent accidental damage.
  • Do not use silver cleaner on costume jewellery.

Glass Jewellery

  • Avoid excessive impact against hard surfaces.
  • Store jewellery separately to avoid chipping or scratching and should not be exposed to any harsh chemicals or products such as hair spray, perfumes, cosmetics or household cleaning items.
  • To clean your glass jewellery use a glass cleaning product and polish with a good quality cleaning cloth.
